Support Beyond Therapy

Mental health is affected by more than what happens in the therapy room. Food insecurity, housing instability, financial stress, healthcare needs, transportation, and safety concerns can all affect our emotional well-being.

Buena Vida Counseling & Wellness has compiled the following resources to help individuals and families in the Metro Atlanta and surrounding communities connect with additional support.

Crisis and Mental Health Support

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

Available 24/7 for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, or concern about someone else.

Georgia Crisis & Access Line

Available 24/7 throughout Georgia. GCAL can provide crisis intervention, connect individuals with behavioral health services, and dispatch mobile crisis services when appropriate. Language assistance is available.

Behavioral Health Crisis Centers

Georgia maintains a network of Behavioral Health Crisis Centers and Crisis Stabilization Units, including locations throughout the Metro Atlanta region.

GCAL can help identify the appropriate crisis center based on your location and needs.

Food Assistance

Atlanta Community Food Bank

The Atlanta Community Food Bank connects individuals and families with food pantries and food assistance throughout Metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

The Food Bank also provides assistance with SNAP applications.

A particularly useful resource for individuals and families in the Stockbridge/Henry County area.

Services may include:

Housing and Homelessness

Partners for HOME

Partners for HOME serves as the lead agency for the Atlanta Continuum of Care, coordinating resources for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the City of Atlanta.

Resources may include coordinated entry, housing assistance, supportive services, and connections to local providers.

Clayton County Coordinated Entry

For individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Clayton County, Coordinated Entry connects residents with available housing and supportive services.

Services may include emergency housing, food assistance, employment support, and healthcare resources.

Henry County Community Resources

Henry County maintains a local resource directory covering:

  • Housing and shelter
  • Utility assistance
  • Food
  • Healthcare
  • Mental health
  • Employment
  • Child welfare
  • Senior services
  • Veteran services

This is particularly useful for residents of Stockbridge, McDonough, Hampton, Locust Grove, and surrounding communities.

Clayton County Community Services Authority

Provides community assistance that may include:

Partnership Against Domestic Violence

Metro Atlanta

PADV provides services for survivors of domestic violence, including crisis support, safety planning, shelter, and advocacy.

Georgia Family Violence Hotline

Healthcare

Community Health Centers

Individuals without insurance or with limited access to healthcare may be eligible for services through federally qualified health centers and other community health providers.

Atlanta Regional Resources

For individuals living in Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, Cobb, Gwinnett, Henry, and surrounding counties, local county health departments and community health centers may provide primary care, women’s health, children’s healthcare, dental services, and other programs.

Atlanta Legal Aid Society

Atlanta Legal Aid provides free civil legal services to qualifying individuals who cannot afford a private attorney.

Their primary Metro Atlanta service area includes:
